Aftab Qureshi
Aftab Qureshi is a dedicated community leader, entrepreneur, and long-time advocate for social justice. A respected real estate broker at RE/MAX and the owner of a local driving institute, Aftab has spent decades balancing professional success with grassroots activism and community service.
He has served as Vice Chairman of the Asian Community Council of Canada (ACCC) since 2004 and as Chair of the Core Committee for the Pakistan Community Center (PCC), working tirelessly to support newcomers, foster inclusivity, and uplift diverse communities across the GTA.
Aftab’s political journey began with the New Democratic Party (NDP), where he served as President of the Markham–Unionville NDP and ran as a federal candidate. From 2002 to 2011, he worked closely with the late Hon. Jack Layton, whose progressive values continue to inspire Aftab’s dedication to equal rights and civic engagement.
Beyond politics, Aftab has co-founded and led several impactful community initiatives, including the Danforth Multi-Faith Community (2004), the East Toronto Multifaith Community (since 2007), and the Sister to Sister Foundation (2008), which empowers women and promotes equity. He also leads Overseas Patriot Pakistani (OPP) and founded the Khursheed International Trust, focused on philanthropy and global social welfare.
Aftab is a proud resident of Markham–Thornhill, a devoted family man with four children, and a passionate advocate for justice, equity, and opportunity. His deep ties to the community and unwavering commitment to social progress make him a strong, compassionate voice for the people of Markham–Thornhill.
